Since 2016, international pharmaceutical companies have voluntarily disclosed annual data on payments to healthcare professionals and organizations. This transparency initiative is a vital step toward building trust and reinforcing ethical standards in the industry.
Medical science has made remarkable progress in recent decades — with innovative medicines and therapies significantly improving both life expectancy and quality of life. These achievements have been made possible by close cooperation between pharmaceutical companies, healthcare professionals, and research institutions. Companies invest in scientific research, professional education, and social programs, contributing to the development of healthcare systems.
Globally, the interaction between the pharmaceutical industry and the medical community is under close public scrutiny. In 2013, the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) adopted a self-regulation standard requiring companies to disclose the value of transfers made to healthcare professionals and organizations. Similar requirements are enshrined in the laws of countries such as the United States, France, Greece, Portugal, and Estonia.
AIPM fully supports the EFPIA approach. This transparency initiative applies to all member companies and aligns with Russian legislation, including data protection laws. Since 2016, member companies have published annual disclosures in a standardized format, accompanied by a methodological note.
AIPM members believe that transparency strengthens accountability and ethical conduct across the industry. It builds public trust and sets new standards of openness for the healthcare system as a whole. Achieving this goal requires cooperation across all stakeholders, and AIPM remains committed to fostering meaningful dialogue between the pharmaceutical sector and the medical community in the interest of patients.
