On September 8, experts from the AIPM convened with students from the Bioengineering and Bioinformatics Faculty at Moscow State University. They explored the journey of transforming scientific ideas into life-saving medications.

The event began with warm greetings from Andrey Zamyatnin, the faculty dean, and Larisa Matveeva, the executive AIPM director.
«The pharmaceutical industry is a long and intricate journey from an idea to reaching patients. At every stage, diverse skills are required: scientists, doctors, analysts, data specialists, regulatory experts, and product developers. We want you to view the industry not through the pages of a textbook but through the eyes of those who daily shape the future of new molecules. We hope these meetings will guide young professionals in selecting their path in an industry that profoundly impacts lives,» said Larisa Matveeva.
Leading pharmaceutical experts discussed drug development stages. Katerina Pogodina, Chair of AIPM Board of Directors, Managing Director Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Russia & CIS, explained the origins of scientific ideas, the dynamics of the R&D field, and how basic research is transformed into medicine. Kirill Starostin, Immunology TA Medical Lead at Sanofi, illustrated with real-world examples how the cost of an innovative molecule is determined and how negotiations unfold between R&D teams and investors. Valeria Lemeshko, GR & Policy Sub-Chapter Head at Roche, highlighted the critical phases in a drug's lifecycle where decisions hinge on data. Tatyana Goldina, Head of Pro RWE Community, elucidated how real-world evidence studies enhance clinical trials and uncover new avenues for drug development and assessment. Natalia Rakova, Medical manager, detailed the specialists involved in creating and promoting new drugs and how scientific research transforms into successful products.

The meeting concluded with a Q&A session, where students were able to ask questions about professions and career opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry.
